PhD Feng Zhang

Where are you from and where did you study before coming to School of ICT?

I am from China. I came to Sweden in 2006 for International Master program “Information and Communication Systems Security”. After that in 2008, I started my Ph.D. with Professor Sead Muftic.

What is your topic and why did you choose it?

My topic is secure service-oriented architecture for mobile environments. The reason is that mobile transactions and applications, such as mobile banking and mobile commerce, become more and more popular in the world. However, there are many security issues, which hinder the wide development and deployment of mobile applications and transactions. Therefore, I chose this subject in order to propose solutions for these security issues.

Describe your topic in short

The topic is mainly to design a security model and a secure architecture for protections of mobile transactions and applications.

Tell us something about your results

In this dissertation, a security model for mobile environments was proposed. Based on this model, a secure mobile service-oriented architecture was designed. In addition, a prototype system that provides secure mobile transactions (mobile banking, mobile commerce, mobile ticketing and mobile parking) was designed and implemented.

What are your future plans?

I will probably stay in Sweden for my future career. I would prefer to go to the industry.
