Doctor Vasiliki Kalavri wins prestigious award

Congratulations to Doctor Vasiliki Kalavri, who has been awarded the prestigious IBM Innovation Award 2017 for her thesis “Performance Optimization Techniques and Tools for Distributed Graph Processing”.

To be considered for the award of €5000 one must have produced:

"An outstanding PhD thesis that presents an original contribution to informatics or its applications in one of the following fields: - Cognitive Computing - Social Media -Analytics & Big Data - Mobile Computing - Cyber Security - Cloud Computing. The informatics part of the work must be both thorough and advanced”.

Dr Kalavri, who did a joint PhD with KTH and UCL - Université catholique de Louvain - defended her thesis  a little over a year ago, at the , KTH School of Information and Communication Technology, and currently host a post-doctoral position at the Systems Group at the Department of Computer Science at ETH Zurich. Doctor Kalavri will receive her award at a ceremony on November 20 at IBM in Brussels.
