Incubating new research collaborations
RPL Summer School 2024
The RPL Summer School focuses on networking and collaboration between RPL members and external researchers while enhancing RPL and KTH's international visibility.
The Second Edition of Biennial RPL Summer School 2024, orchestrated by the Robotics, Perception and Learning (RPL) division at KTH, marked a milestone in fostering global academic synergy this June. This exclusive gathering was a melting pot for top-tier doctoral and post-doctoral researchers in robotics, computer vision, and machine learning. With a mission to elevate RPL and KTH's international footprint, the event brought together a select group of the brightest minds from across the globe.
Exclusive participation
From an initial pool of nearly 400 applicants, only 40 external participants were chosen to join 42 RPL members, comprising first-year to final-year doctoral students, post-docs, and faculty. Over the course of the event, nine esteemed keynote speakers from premier research institutes and universities graced the attendees with their insights, setting the stage for a series of inspiring and fruitful interactions.
Harvesting new ideas
The event commenced with a memorable voyage aboard the Gustafsberg VII, cruising through Stockholm's enchanting waterways. This unique welcome set the tone for the summer school, which continued at the scenic Happy Tammsvik resort. Participants engaged in a robust schedule of keynote speeches, parallel tracks, freestyle discussions, and outdoor team-building activities, culminating in 33 innovative pitch presentations. Notably, 63.6% of these pitches emerged from collaborations between RPL members and external researchers.
The RPL Summer School 2024, supported by SAAB, proved to be an exceptional platform for networking, collaboration, and idea incubation. Attendees lauded the event's meticulous organisation, emphasis on cooperation, diverse speaker lineup, and serene, conducive venue.
