In the first collaboration between KTH Climate Action Centre and UNOPS, students from the centre are developing a climate action module for UNOPS' sustainABLE tool. The module will help engineers, managers and operators align projects with the Sustainable Development Goals.

KTH students Simon Román and Louise Wernersson visited the headquarters of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Copenhagen as part of their Master's thesis work with the Climate Action Centre. Simon and Louise are working to develop a climate action module for UNOPS' sustainABLE tool, which is designed to help practitioners across the infrastructure lifecycle align projects with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Their thesis work will enable energy project planners, engineers, managers, operators, and other practitioners to identify and implement actions aligned with climate mitigation and adaptation outcomes. They will also have the opportunity to meet with project managers working on UNOPS energy access projects in Global South countries to test their tool and methods.

This is the first collaboration between KTH Climate Action Centre and UNOPS. The organisations will work together on future initiatives to integrate climate action in infrastructure projects and to bridge the academic research and practitioner communities.
