Research collaboration on AI-models for document analysis
A new collaboration project between KTH Climate Action Centre and Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) will investigate how large language models and designs can be applied to policy assessments and systematic reviews.
Haluk Akay (Postdoc at KTH Climate Action Centre), Biljana Macura (Senior Research Fellow at Stockholm Environment Institute, SEI) and Daniel Ddiba (Research Fellow at SEI) have recently secured funding for a new research collaboration to commence in February 2024.
The research will apply AI-based language models and design methodology to analyze and code large corpora of scientific or policy documents. The methodology will be piloted on a study that aims to understand how sanitation policies align with climate change mitigation and adaptation requirements.
With responsible utilisation of AI, the project aims at scaling and augmentation of the policy analysis and evidence synthesis conducted at SEI and KTH. The new research is jointly funded by the SEI's core funding and the Digital Futures Postdoc Fellowship “Data-Driven Design for Climate Action.” SEI is, and continues to be, a strategic knowledge partner of the KTH Climate Action Centre.
