For the Super Election Year 2024, the KTH Climate Action Centre, together with Right Livelihood, releases a new podcast series covering various aspects of the link between climate and democracy.

The connection between climate and democracy is not always obvious, but it is strong. During the summer of 2024, the KTH Climate Action Centre, together with Right Livelihood, will produce a series of podcasts titled ”From Ballot to Biosphere,” which will especially shine a light on the EU election, the African national elections, and the US national election.

Our first episode “Climate, democracy, and Earth for All” covers why democracy is needed for the climate transition, as well as the global and societal context in which the votes are happening.

Guests on this episode are Owen Gaffney, communicator of Earth system sciences and author of books like “Breaking Boundaries” and “Earth for all: A survival guide for humanity”. We also have Neshan Gunasekera, visiting researcher at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute with extensive experience in international law, human rights, and environmental conservation. Neshan is also the legacy holder of the Right Livelihood laureate Judge Christopher Weeramantry.
