Every year, Forskarfredag (Researcher's Friday) takes place, a fair where students from 9th grade and high school get the opportunity meet researchers, and learn about their research projects. This year KTH Climate Action Centre was present to discuss the climate and the Climate Qs project.

Climate Qs is a project aimed at increasing the knowledge about climate action among young people. During Forskarfredag (Researcher's Friday), KTH Climate Action Centre met with the young attendees and talked to them about the climate and climate action.

”After talking to the students, it was clear that most of them feel powerless in the face of the climate crisis and perceive it as 'distant,' which diminishes their interest in the issue. We want young people to feel the opposite – that there is a lot they can do, and the climate crisis is relevant to all of us, so we try to develop tools that can make young people more informed about the climate issue, and more ready to tackle the climate challenges ahead,” says Helena Glisén, Research Engineer at KTH Climate Action Centre.

During the event, students were encouraged to write questions for the centre's climate researchers and post them on the wall. And by the end of the day the wall was filled with inquiries, many of them revolving around what they themselves can do to contribute to the solution.

”Who do you think bears the greatest responsibility for taking action on the climate crisis?”, ”Can we coexist with cows?” and ”In what cases is it better to develop and replace with new products instead of repairing and upgrading old ones?”, were some examples.

These and other questions and perspectives will become part of the basis for developing Climate Qs.
