Our research and education cover a wide area, including natural sciences and all branches of engineering, as well as architecture, industrial management, urban planning, history, and philosophy.

The successful candidates will join the Circular Manufacturing Systems (CMS) research team at the Department of Production Engineering (IPU), which is conducting state-of-the-art research aimed at helping the European manufacturing industry transform its linear manufacturing systems into Circular Manufacturing Systems. This entails a fundamentally new approach to resources and their conservation, initiated at the conceptual design stage of products with a rigorous insight into their entire lifecycle.

The candidates will work on a research project commissioned by DeLaval  to investigate the technical, economic, and environmental feasibility of refurbishing/remanufacturing a DeLaval product. As part of the research, you are expected to spend the required amount of time at the DeLaval facility in Tumba.

Job description:

You will be assisting in performing the research work, which includes reviewing the state of the art, preparing and running interviews and workshops, collecting and analyzing data, scientifically presenting results, and writing reports. The candidate will be working part-time, equivalent to 25%-50%, depending on the availability of the candidates and the stage of the project.

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates in their final year of an M.Sc. degree or equivalent at KTH or other universities in Sweden. The candidate is required to have excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Moreover, you should be a good team player and have a strong ability to drive research and deliver high-quality research outputs. As research involves uncertainty, the candidates are expected to be highly flexible in dealing with uncertainties and have problem-solving skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability. Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Experience and knowledge of Circular Economy and Circular Manufacturing Systems.
  • Relevant industrial experience
  • Experience in scientific writing
  • Swedish language skills
