Hello everyone, and welcome to today’s post! Undoubtedly, one of the many advantages of studying at KTH, the best technical university in Sweden for the QS World University Rankings, is its location in Stockholm, the “Venice of the North“. Join me in discovering the vibrant seasonal wonders this beautiful city offers!
Autumn: nature’s favourite canvas
The arrival of autumn paints Stockholm as a canvas of incredible colours. The city’s parks and forests turn into a mesmerizing landscape of red, orange, and gold, creating a beautiful scenery for leisurely walks! Personally, I think that this is the best period to experience the city: the cool but comfortable weather invites you to explore Stockholm’s natural beauty, which also mirrors the diverse international environment of the city, as well as the vibrant KTH student life (that packs Autumn with lively events like the Tentapub!).
Winter: Stockholm’s frosty fairy tale
Winter in Stockholm blankets the city in a magical layer of snow, creating a picturesque wonderland that offers unique experiences. From skating on a frozen lake, to ice-bathing and cross country skiing, there something for everyone in the Swedish Winter! The days may be short, but the city comes alive with cozy cafes, art exhibitions and festive Christmas markets, leading to a unique experience. Swedish Winter is often misunderstood, and I invite you to read this past post on how I feel about the Swedish Winter to get a better idea of what it’s like to live here!
Spring: the city’s rebirth
With the arrival of spring, Stockholm experiences a revival. Nature awakens, offering a vibrant display of blossoming flowers (which Swedes love to plant everywhere!), creating a colorful picture in the city’s parks and gardens. Spring in Stockholm symbolizes rejuvenation and new beginnings, as well as the Summer days and Summer holidays getting closer.
Summer: the endless light
In Summer, Stockholm transforms into a city of (almost) endless daylight, aligning perfectly with the boundless opportunities KTH offers its students. It is indeed very common to carry out some research work at KTH or a Summer internship in a company… or you can simply choose to enjoy the extended daylight hours exploring the city’s parks and archipelago, which become an adventure paradise for boating, kayaking, and island hopping. As nature blossoms, Stockholm’s concert season also starts, filling the city with live music. Simply amazing!
That was all for today. I hope you enjoyed this more “visual” post! Before leaving you, I want to remind you that you can find the next KTH webinars on this page. They really helped me last year, I found them super useful and I also wrote about why I loved them on the blog! The next one will be on the Engineering Sciences school – which also happens to be my school. So get ready for an upcoming post on the topic 😉.
