Hej everyone! Welcome to this post! Every year, there’s an event that I eagerly anticipate, one that never fails to exceed my expectations and leave me with lasting memories. That event is Finance x Consulting Day, which is organized by the KTH Finance Society, and I’m excited to share my experience from this year’s gathering, hosted on the 21st of September. This event has become my absolute favourite, and here’s why.
The Build-Up to the Day
The excitement had been building for weeks leading up to Finance x Consulting Day. The event has gained a reputation for attracting some of the biggest names in finance and consulting, and this year was no exception. With a record number of attending companies, it promised to be a day of endless possibilities. Check out the list of attending companies here. Finance x Consulting Day is a two part event: a career fair hosted in Nymble and banquet hosted in the middle of Stockholm.
A Room Full of Opportunities
Walking into Nymble that day, I was immediately struck by the bustling energy! The list of attending companies were all of the big players in the finance and consulting industry that are present in Stockholm, who were ready to engage with ambitious students. Overall, I spent approximately 2.5 hours speaking with representatives at the career fair!
Mock Interviews: A Chance to Shine
One of the most valuable aspects of the day was the opportunity to participate in mock interviews with company representatives. It was nerve-wracking, to say the least, but incredibly rewarding. These practice interviews allowed me to sharpen my skills, gain insight into what top companies are looking for, and receive constructive feedback from professionals in the industry. It was a taste of the real deal and a chance to stand out from the crowd. I personally had one interview that I was selected for and two interviews the previous year and to this day I am still in contact with the connections I made during those interviews.
The Grand Banquet: Where Networking Met Elegance
As the day progressed, I couldn’t help but be excited about the grand banquet. This was no ordinary dinner – it was a unique networking opportunity. Picture this: elegant tables adorned with fine china, exquisite cuisine, and the buzz of conversations between students and representatives from different companies. It was an atmosphere of camaraderie and shared ambition. I found myself immersed in discussions about the industry, career prospects, and personal experiences, while of course, making friends throughout the night.
My Personal Success Story
Finance x Consulting Day holds a special place in my heart because it was at this very event that I landed one of my most cherished internships. Networking on a company level had never been so enjoyable and fruitful. I met professionals who would later become my mentors and colleagues, and I made lifelong friends along the way. This event, for me, was a culmination of learning, networking, and making memories in a setting that combined professionalism with a relaxed and enjoyable ambiance.
Why it’s one of my favourite events of the year
Finance x Consulting Day isn’t just another event on the calendar; it’s an experience that can shape your future. It’s where you have the chance to meet the industry’s giants, hone your skills, and make connections that can change the trajectory of your career. But beyond that, it’s a day of personal growth, a day where you can make friends, share stories, and savor every moment. It’s a day of learning, of networking, and of celebrating the incredible fusion of opportunity and camaraderie. For those of you that are not into finance or consulting, do not fret! KTH chapters and other student associations will have similar career fairs throughout the year, there really is something for everyone!
In conclusion, Finance x Consulting Day is more than an event; it’s an experience. It’s an event that encapsulates everything I love about the world of finance and consulting. It’s a day that reaffirms my passion for this field, and each year, it leaves me eagerly waiting for what comes next. If you haven’t experienced it yet, mark your calendar for mid- September and get ready for a day that could change your life – just like it did for me. See you there next year, this time hopefully as a company representative!
