Abstract.

This report gives an introduction to asymptotic methods in analysis. The report begins with a short description of asymptotic series and then continues with a study of the asymptotic behaviour of Laplaceintegrals and Fourierintegrals with the help of Laplace’s method and Kelvin-Stokes’ method of constant phase. In particular we give a derivation of Stirling’s formula. The report ends with a few concrete applications of Riemann’s method for mixed integrals.
